Will living in downtown Tampa put me close to a lot of unique events?

Living in or near a downtown Tampa apartment will allow you to be close to many different events year-round. The downtown area has many annual events as well as recurring weekly events. I will provide a short listing – downtown is a busy area, and there will always be plenty to do.

One annual event that is coming up soon is Dying the Channel Green – a St. Patrick's Day event sponsored by the Rough Riders that is not something you want to miss! Earlier this month, the Gasparilla Festival of the Arts showcased tons of talent from the Tampa Bay community and beyond. This is one event to look out for next year.

In April and May, you can see a different concert each Friday night at Friday Extra Concert Series. This summer, you can look forward to a great fireworks display on July 4th in the downtown Tampa area. In September, the Tampa Boat parade is an interesting event to attend. November through January you can go ice skating in Curtis Hixon Waterfron Park in downtown Tampa. If you are in town for New Year's, check out the fireworks near Channelside Bay Plaza at midnight.

Next year, be on the look out for the Gasparilla Pirate fest. There is both a "family friendly" parade as well as regular parade. This event includes fireworks, a boat parade (invasion of the pirates), and more. This generally happens around the end of January.

There are also many recurring events and activities going on in downtown Tampa year-round. Every Sunday night, you can take a free yoga class at Curtis Waterfront Hixon Park. From October to May, enjoy a Sunday Market during the afternoon right across from Curtis Waterfront Hixon Park. On the first Thursday of each month, you can catch a free concert at 6:30 called Rock the Park. This also happens at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park with different artists each month. Every Thursday at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, you can also find a free Tango class at 6pm.

If none of these activities fit your schedule, there will always be things to do at the Tampa Theatre, Curtis Hixon Park, Lykes Gaslight Square Park, or the Tampa Museum of Art. While you are living in your downtown Tampa apartment, you're sure to find some favorite places to visit and things to do.

If you would like to see some unique activities in downtown, check out this calendar, managed by the Tampa Downtown Partnership. While you are living in your Tampa apartment, this is a great website to check out anytime you are bored or if you have friends or family coming to visit.
