The beaches in Clearwater are absolutely beautiful, and unlike West Coast beaches. The Gulf of Mexico is not, despite the misleading name, all that clear in the Northern, populated areas, but the water is still blue and beautiful, and the white sand cannot be found elsewhere. Some beaches further south of St. Pete, like Ft. DeSoto, have clearer water. Clearwater beach also has great local eateries, and some of the best seafood in the Bay. Many of the restaurants sit on the water, and host local talent. Palm Pavilion and Rocky's Castaway Grill are two great local staples.
