Get to know…Westchase

The newest of Tampa’s planned communities, Westchase is an oasis in west Tampa. The community has gained popularity among families and young professionals who seek the beauty and amenities that only thoughtfully planned communities can deliver. Apartments in Westchase are ideal for those who want that family atmosphere, along with quick access to the rest of the Bay area. The neigborhood escapes the “cookie cutter” feel that plagues some planned communities. Its natural feel and neighborhood shops give Westchase a distinct personality that’s difficult to duplicate. Residents of Westchase apartments appreciate how quickly they can reach other parts of the city—and that they don’t’ have to leave the neighborhood for anything if they want to stay close to home.

Westchase Apartment Living

With its wide sidewalks, numerous ponds, and winding roads, Westchase hold significant charm. Although the neighborhood is relatively new, it has already developed a unique personality that echoes that of a much more mature neighborhood. Apartments in Westchase are located close to thriving local businesses, which provide all the basics—and much more. While Westchase apartments may be slightly more expensive than those in nearby Town ‘n’ Country, the area’s allure accounts for the cost difference. Living in Westchase apartments means plenty of green spaces to walk the dog or take a jog, along with neighborhood schools with high academic standards and exceptional reputations.

Westchase Community Culture

Like other planned communities, the most significant demographic in Westchase is families, followed closely by young professionals. The community remains relatively quiet, and many activities revolve around school, church, and sports. Most Westchase apartment residents commute into Tampa, Clearwater, or St. Petersburg, but prefer to call Westchase home. They appreciate the neighborhood’s clean, consistent feel and the many neighborhood amenities like pools and sports fields.

Things to Do in Westchase

Although Westchase is certainly home to many families, the neighborhood still “knows how to have fun.” Multiple bars and restaurants have sprung up in the area, including Tampa’s first World of Beer. In the same shopping center are a gym, Bali-wood movie theatre, and several well-liked restaurants. Each year the area holds large gatherings for both St. Patrick’s Day and OctoberFest, although these events seldom interrupt the neighbors. The crowd at Westchase, after all, is usually slightly older and more mature than the crowd in SoHo, downtown Tampa, or the USF area.

Meanwhile Westchase is close to several parks and other natural attractions. It’s also close enough to Tampa that residents can drive to other areas of the city to enjoy entertainment and dining. Since the neighborhood is on the west side of Tampa, it’s an easy drive over to Honeymoon Island, where the ferry heads to Caladesi Island, and where visitors frequently bring their dogs to the designated dog beach.

Getting around Westchase

Some Westchase apartments are situated within walking distance of local businesses or parks. To leave Westchase however, most residents will need to drive. The Veteran’s Expressway gives access to Clearwater, the Tampa International Airport, and I-275, which goes south to St. Petersburg and north to downtown Tampa. Both Hillsborough and Waters Avenues are also close to Westchase, running west into the rest of Tampa, such as Town ‘n’ Country and the south end of Carrollwood.
