Find Apartments Near Public Transportation in Tampa Bay

If you don't have car access, living in a Tampa apartment near public transportation is a must. The Tampa Bay area is pretty spread out, and walking everywhere that you need to go is not a viable option for most people.

Public transportation in the Tampa area is primarily found on bus routes. There is a streetcar system in the Downtown, Channel District, and Ybor City areas. Taxis are also available when called.

Living in a Tampa apartment near public transportation means that you will need to be familiar with the HART bus lines. HART, or Hillsborough Area Regional Transit serves most of the Tampa Bay Area. In Carrollwood, Town ‘N Country, Brandon, Wimauma, and part of South Tampa you can use HARTFlex service, which offers curbside service with advance reservation. The rest of HART's normal services are found in the USF area, Temple Terrace, Seminole Heights, Ybor City, Downtown, Tampa International, Westshore, and everywhere in between. A helpful note for University of South Florida students - there are connections between HART and the USF Bull Runner at the HART University Area Transit Center.

HART's schedules are different on weekends, so be sure to take note. HART offers some discounts, including free fares on most lines with a valid USF ID. You can also purchase a month pass if you know you will be riding a lot while living in your Tampa apartment near public transportation. If you plan to rely on public transportation, make sure that the areas you plan to frequent, such as your work and the grocery store, are close to bus stops.

Even if you own a car, public transportation can still be beneficial. Living in a Tampa apartment near public transportation gives you the option of using it when you want to. Public transportation is great for the environment, so environmentally conscious folks might want to consider living near public transportation. Using public transit also helps to lessen congestion, which can be a real issue in Tampa. Walking or biking to and from bus stops is great exercise. Rather than sitting down for more of your day in a car, why not walk or bike to the bus and put your heart and lungs to work? Once you're riding, you can utilize your time by reading, checking emails, or anything else you need to work on to and from your destination.

Public transportation is also beneficial if you're going to a place with limited or costly parking. Instead of going through the hassle of searching or paying for parking, think about using the bus and saving some hassle. For example, trying to park at Ybor's annual Gasparilla festival can be daunting, but if you ride the bus, you won't have that issue.

Taking the bus does a lot to help out Tampa. It provides jobs for the thousands of employees. Using public transportation is actually safer than driving in your own car. Instead of driving, you can read or catch up on your work while someone else drives. An added bonus – if you want to text, you won't endanger anyone! Even if you don't plan to need public transportation in your Tampa Bay apartment, find out if it's available. You can do this easily using our customizable search tool!
